Why Solar Lights Make Sense

As soon as you start to think about landscaping the thought of lighting is never far away. It’s easy to understand why; it brings something unique and magical to your garden. What was once a mass of darkness can readily become a place where you come to spend more and more time as the magic of some small illumination holds your attention and often brings relaxation too.

Using solar lights to achieve this is a very real consideration. Conventional lighting can achieve the same effect, but the installation will be time consuming and costly. Solar lights have hardly any installation at all. There are many lights available that simply go in the ground via a stake on which the light sits at the top. Push the stake in the ground and you’re done. All you have to do then is wait for the night and the lights will magically turn on. How easy is that?

Solar lights have many advantages over conventional lighting of which only one is the installation process. In fact there is really no process involved at all. At a basic level you simply plunge a solar light into the ground that sits on top of a stake and that’s it. There is no underground channeling, no cables, and no qualified electrician to install them. That’s a lot of benefit right there.

In some ways the solar lights have been very popular for many, many years, but more recently there has been a huge curve of interest due to ever increasing energy charges. It seems pointless to go to all the trouble of installing complex wiring and paying quite large amounts of money to effect the installation and then finally to pay high energy charges when it’s all done. Don’t do it. Think about the alternative. The alternative is solar lights and they’re a totally viable option. When you look at the cost, the installation, the ongoing charges, it really doesn’t make sense to go down the conventional route.

I have already mentioned flood lights, but there are also fountain lights, pond lights, wall lights, deck lights, and even solar illuminated house numbers. There are even insects and birds that sit atop sticks and glow magically in the dark. Of course, landscaping lighting is only a part of the solar revolution, and almost everyone is aware of the large solar panels that are often housed on a roof, but they can also be installed in a garage or any out building with the panel sitting at the top. The type of approach would necessitate you switching the lights on after an adequate charge has built up, whereas the many of the typical landscaping options have a photo-sensor that detects the darkness and automatically switches the unit on. Solar lights are superb way to light your garden or act as a very efficient security system for all the family.
