Take control of getting your site produced by a developer and understand the process it will save you money and get you a site that actually works the intended purpose!
1. Understanding your business and how you are currently established in your market.
In order to author a site that truly meets your requirements; you first need to have a full knowledge of your business including your products, and/or services and more importantly their market position. You then have to examine how you want to explain your business and what it offers in 7 seconds or less. Sounds impossible? Well that is the average time that a user will consider the point “is this site I searched for?”.
2. Budget and estimation
Have a budget in mind and don’t be afraid to let the developers know what it is. In saying this: BE REALISTIC, $500 will never see a great web site created, nor will they be anything left in the bank to market it.
3. The creative process
Be armed with example sites and more importantly the elements of the site you like so they can achieve an understanding of what you would like to see on your site and also what you find frustrating about other sites. This will construct a good profile and realise not only what type of site to construct for you but your tolerance to colours, animations, layouts etc. for your requirements which will allow for fast development. The more interaction and information you allow them in the beginning the more time you will save everybody in the long run by getting what you want 1st time round. This is a where things can get ugly in the process you must understand the way the program operates and test it as if you were normal website user. 7. Launch – going live
When the developers are ready to make your site onlive make sure you have completed the above testing step until you are certain that this website is the best representation of your business / product it can be. There is little point in having a website if nobody visits it, make sure as part of you contract you have considered search engine optimisation and or search engine marketing as part of your website build. A logo is a crucial step to creating a business. It is the face of your business. And like your face expresses the tone of your business, gestures the service and demonstrates the professionalism or lack there of.
People spend a lot of money on the formation of their logo and walk away with no artwork files. There is only one way to stop this from happening and that is to create a style guide. Not only will a style guide help you conduct the reproduction of your logo – it will also help you fortify your brand recognition – which many argue is one of the strongest selling tools.

The most typical question that is asked when buying a new projector for the home, office, or classroom is: would I get an LCD projector or a DLP projector? LCD, an acronym for ‘liquid crystal device’ and DLP, an acronym for ‘digital light processing’ are the two top projector imaging technologies. With so many company brands and models available, it can be confusing for the buyer to choose between those technologies. The fact is that LCD projectors have far superior image quality and colour accuracy. The next part of this article explains why DLP projectors struggle with projecting a similar rate of image quality.
Think of a set of blinds in your room covering your bedroom window. By a twist of a rod you can turn the shutters open or closed, depending on if you want to let light in or not. This is exactly how an LCD projector works. Each pixel operates like a single shutter on a set of blinds to either pass light through or to block it. DLP on the other hand is constructed of millions of microscopic mirrors or ‘pixel elements’ as pros like to call them. Each pixel element works to either reflect light or block it.
How the light source is processed from the point when the projector switches on to when the image reaches your screen is ultimately important for image quality, brightness and colour accuracy. LCD projectors direct white light from the lamp by separating it into red, blue and green components, by three mirrors which send the coloured light to 3 stand alone LCD panels. The 3 LCD panels make the elements of the image by turning each pixel on and off. The pixels are then combined in a glass prism to deliver the projector image. An important point to realise about LCD projectors is that all three colours are delivered onto your projector screen at the same time. The way a DLP projector operates is very different and even the final product of how an image comes out is not the same. With DLP, white light from the lamp is directed through a turning colour wheel with transparent red, blue and green segments, at speeds up to 11,000 rpm/s. This method of forming an image forms a sequence of red, blue and green light. The millions of micro mirrors described above reflect the coloured light on the pixels to produce the image elements. The elements of the image are sent in sequence on the screen, one colour at a time. The viewer’s vision will then draw each coloured element of the image into the whole image. With LCD projectors, all colours are available all the time to create high brightness and superb colour accuracy. In DLP, just one colour is available at once, resulting in lower colour brightness and accuracy. Some DLP designers have placed a white segment for the colour wheel to improve brightness generally, but this also damages colour accuracy.
I find in forums all the time that DLP gives a higher contrast ratio and as such must be superior. For those who are uncertain, the contrast ratio is a measure of a display system defined as the ratio of the luminance of the brightest white to that of the darkest black that the system is able to produce. DLP projectors do possess high contrast specifications in comparison to a majority of LCD projectors. At a glance, this must be a plus, however, in reality, the true black level is determined by the ambient light in the room where the projector is used. Do not be hoodwinked by contrast specifications on websites and in brochures.
When the content you plan to project has moving images, DLP projection technology can also create image errors, or ‘artifacts’. The most commonplace artifact that a DLP projector creates with moving images is colour break up. Colour break up is inherent in DLP systems because moving images change position between the time red, blue and green colours are shone. LCD projectors do not have this problem because all colours are sent at once. DLP builders have created 3DLP solutions using 3 chips to solve the colour break up problem, but the cost of these projectors make them almost impossible for the large part of businesses and consumers.
Another point of difference between LCD and DLP is how they balance for the refractive qualities of light. Take yourself back to high school science, and remember how different colours of light refract various amounts when passing through the same lens. The downside with DLP projectors is that they have the one same panel with the same lens to project Red, Blue and Green. All 3 colours are obviously different and refract light in different ways. Most of the time with a DLP projector, a superfluous yellow colour will come through above and some blue will be projected below an image as simple as a lone black line. While being built LCD projectors can be fixed to remove these effects on the projected image, because each colour is projected on isolated LCD panels.
The one real buy point (excluding price) with deciding on a DLP projector is its smaller size and weight. However, this is only relevant with regard to transport and has to be traded off against the image superiority of LCD projectors. If resulting picture quality is important to you, then the choice is easy. Go for an LCD projector! LCD projectors will consistently make bright, colourful images with fewer image blips. As the Dutch came to preeminence in sea power during the 17th century, the first yacht had been a leisure craft used initially by royalty and then by the burghers for the canals and the protected and unprotected waters of the Low Countries. Charles and his brother James, the duke of York (James II, sovereign 1685–88), ordered for other yachts and in 1662 raced two of them from the Thames, from Greenwich, to Gravesend, and back, on a £100 bet. Yachting rose as popular among the wealthy and royalty, but after that point the fashion did not last.
The first yacht group in the British Isles, the Water Club, was instigated in about 1720 at Cork, Ire., as a cruising and unofficial coast guard organization, and held large naval panoply and rigour. The closest thing to a race was the “chase,” in which the “fleet” pursued an imaginary enemy. The club endured, largely as a social club, until 1765, and in 1828, after merging with other groups, it was known as the Cork Yacht Club (later the Royal Cork Yacht Club).
Yacht racing was first seen in some stipulated method on the Thames around the mid-18th century. The duke of Cumberland funded the Cumberland Fleet for Thames racing in 1775. When George IV rose to the throne in 1820, it was then named the Fleet to His Majesty’s Coronation Sailing Society. The Thames Yacht Club seceded with a racing fight, to become the Royal Thames Yacht Club in 1830. The first English yacht club had been started at Cowes on the Isle of Wight in 1815, and royal funding made the Solent – the strait between the mainland and the Isle of Wight – the perpetual setting of British yachting. The organisation at Cowes became the Royal Yachting Club, likewise at the rise of George IV. All members were required to have boats of at least 20 tons (20,321 kg). Sailing matches for great bids were held, and the society life was wonderful. It came to be that the Royal Yachting Club boats grew in size to bigger than 350 tons.
In North America, yachting was first accomplished with the Dutch in New York in the 17th century and went on when the English had control. Sailing was largely for fun and rose to its epitome in George Crowinshield’s Cleopatra’s Barge (1815), which traveled on the Mediterranean Sea and set a standard of luxury and elegance for the later yachts in that area from the late 19th century. The first enduring American yacht organisation, the Detroit Boat Club, was instigated in 1839. In 1844, John C. Stevens instigated the New York Yacht Club while on board his schooner Gimcrack.
Kinds of sailboats
The Early sailing yachts followed the style of such naval craft as brigantines, schooners, and cutters from the 17th century until the second half of the 19th century. The style of bigger yachts was initially heavily put upon by the success of America, which was designed by George Steers for a club started by John C. Stevens, and it was the boat for which the America’s Cup (q.v.) found its namesake after its win at Cowes in 1851. Early yachts were not designed and crafted in today’s sense, with merely a model being used. Not until the second half of the 19th century did what was labeled naval architecture come into being. Not until the 1920s did the employment of the research of aerodynamics do for the design of sails and rigging what such science had done earlier for hulls.
Because nearly all sailboats had been individually custom-built, there came a desire for handicapping boats previous to the one-design class boats were built. Therefore, a rating rule was decreed, which resulted in the International Rule, accepted in 1906 and revised in 1919. In the present day, one of the most rapidly blossoming areas in the sailing industry is that of one-design class boats. All boats in a one-design class are built to the same dimensions in length, beam, sail area, and other aspects (for an example of a two-person sailboat, see illustration). Racing for these boats can be done on an even basis with no handicapping at all. A great example is the generic International America’s Cup Class adopted for yachts in the 1992 America’s Cup race.
As long as yachting was an activity largely for the aristocracy and the wealthy, expense was no object, and the size of boats grew, in both length and weight. The promotion and preference of smaller boats occurred in the later half of the 19th century in the sailing of the Englishmen R.T. McMullen, a stockbroker, and E.F. Knight, a barrister and journalist. A voyage around the world (1895–98) captained single-handedly by the naturalized American captain Joshua Slocum in the 11.3-metre Spray demonstrated the hardiness of less sizeable craft. Later in the 20th century, particularly after World War II, smaller racing and recreational craft became more popular, down to the dinghy, a favourite training boat, of 3.7 m. In the late 20th century, boats of less than 3 m were sailed single-handedly across the Atlantic Ocean.
Kinds of power yachts
After the decade 1840–50, when steam began to emulate sail power in commercial boats, the steam engine, and later the internal-combustion engine, were increasingly used in pleasure vessels. Bigger power yachts were furthered to a high element, and long-distance cruising was a preferred pastime of the well off. The earliest power yachts were paddle-wheel boats; they then gave way to those powered by the wholly submerged screw or propeller kind of propulsion. Like naval and merchant vessels, auxiliaries carrying both sail and power were the yacht archetype for a number of years. By the second half of the 20th century, a lot of yachts were still auxiliaries, but the large part were exclusively power yachts with gasoline or diesel engines.
From the last decade of the 19th century there was a rise in the manufacture of more sizeable steam yachts. Conspicuous of these was the Mayflower (1897) of 2,690 tons, that had triple-expansion engines, twin screws, and a compartmented iron hull, and was sailed by a crew of more than 150. The Mayflower, commissioned by the United States Navy in 1898, was the official yacht of the president of the United States until 1929 and gave active service for World War II.
As bigger and more reliable internal-combustion engines were produced, many big boats were using them for power. The development of the diesel engine, employing heavy oil for fuel, progressed in World War I. During the decade following, big power-yacht manufacture grew, reaching a climax in the Orion (1930) at 3,097 tons. During that time the biggest auxiliary yacht built was the four-masted, steel, barque-rigged Sea Cloud (1931) of 2,323 tons.
The construction of big power craft declined after 1932, and the style after that was toward smaller, less costly boats. Following World War II, many small naval vessels were sold to private owners for conversion to yachts. By the late 20th century, yachting has become a widespread popular sport enjoyed by thousands of yachtsmen individually owning and maintaining their own small pleasure boats. The popularity of boats and yachtsmen is increasing steadily, not only in the traditional areas by the sea but also on inland waterways and lakes.

Taxes are differentiated by the impact they have on the distribution of income and wealth. A proportional tax is a kind that places the same relative requirement on all taxpayers—i.e., in the case where tax liability and income increase in equal levels. A progressive tax is characterized by a larger than proportional growth in the tax liability in relation to the rise in income, and a regressive tax is characterized by a less than proportional growth in the related liability. So, progressive taxes are seen as removing the lack of equality in income distribution, whereas regressive taxes are seen to increase these inequalities.
The taxes that are often regarded as progressive include individual income taxes and estate taxes. Income taxes that are declarably progressive, however, might become less so in the upper-income categories—particularly if a taxpayer is permitted to lessen his tax base by nominating deductions or by excluding some income elements from his taxable income. Proportional tax rates when applied to lower-income categories will also be more progressive if exemptions of a personal nature are claimed.
Income measured over the period of a year may not absolutely come up with the most suitable measure of taxpaying requirement. For example, transitory growth in income may be saved, and in temporary declines in income a taxpayer may decide to provide for consumption by reducing savings. Therefore, if taxation is held in comparison along with “permanent income,” it would be less regressive (or more progressive) than if made comparable with annual income.
Sales taxes and excises (except those on luxuries) are mostly regressive, because the dissemination of own income consumed or spent on specific goods lessens as the rate of personal income rises. Poll taxes (also termed head taxes), levied as a fixed amount per capita, obviously are regressive.
It is not easy to dictate corporate income taxes and taxes on business as progressive, regressive, or proportionate, principally because of the lack of certainty surrounding the ability of businesses to shift their tax expenses (see below Shifting and incidence). This difficulty of nominating who bears the tax burden depends essentially on whether a national or a subnational (that is, provincial or state) tax is being debated.
In regarding the economic purposes of taxation, it is essential to distinguish between differing points of tax rates. The statutory rates are nominated in the legislation; often these are marginal rates, but in some cases they are mean rates. Marginal income tax rates note the fraction of incremental income that is taken by taxation when income rises by one dollar. Thus, if tax burden rises by 45 cents when income rises by one dollar, the marginal tax rate is 45 percent. Income tax legislation commonly contain graduated marginal rates—i.e., rates that increase as income grows. Structured analysis of marginal tax rates must consider provisions in addition to the formal statutory rate structure. If, for example, a particular tax credit (reduction in tax) reduces by 20 cents for each one-dollar increase in income, the marginal rate is 20 percentage points more than specified within the statutory rates. Since marginal rates indicate how after-tax income is changed in response to changes in before-tax income, they are the appropriate ones for appraising incentive effects of taxation. It is even more complicated to know the marginal effective tax rate to apply to income from business and capital, as it may rely on factors such as the structure of depreciation allowances, the deductibility of interest, and the provisions for inflation adjustment. A basic economic theorem grants that the marginal effective tax rate in income from capital is nothing under a consumption-based tax.
Average income tax rates display the fraction of total income that is demanded in taxation. The pattern of average rates is the one that is in consideration for judging the distributional equity of taxation. Under a progressive income tax the average income tax rate rises with income. Average income tax rates usually grow with income, both because personal allowances are granted for the taxpayer and dependents and due to that marginal tax rates are graduated; on the other side of things, preferential treatment of income received mostly by high-income households may swamp these effects, forcing regressivity, as displayed by average tax rates that lessen as income rises.
